The Syrian crisis a year after the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The Russian invasion of Ukraine readjusted the priorities of the international and regional powers, leaving its own effects on various arenas and sectors. In this regard, the world's major powers have the maximum influence at the points of engagement between the international powers, as in the Syrian case, where Russia and the United States share control of areas there, in participation with other regional actors.

Meanwhile, the ongoing war did not prevent Russia from asserting its presence as a major actor in the Syrian scene. Instead, Moscow was able to postpone the work of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in June 2022, and played the role of mediator between Türkiye and the regime to normalize relations between the two parties at the end of the same year.

This paper is an attempt to determine the level and nature of the impact of the "Russian-Ukrainian" war on Syria, as a natural result of the intervention of the same actors in both conflicts.
