The map of military influence in Syria for February 2020 showed a noticeable change in total control ratios between the conflicting forces on the Syrian soil, compared to ratios recorded last January.

According to Jusoor for Studies Center released map, total control ratios on the ground have become as follows:

• Opposition factions' control ratio decreased to (10.98%) compared to (11.75%) recorded last month.

• Regime forces control ratio slightly increased, recording (63.83%) compared to (62.63%) of last month.

• The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) maintained the control ratio they had recorded since January 2019 at (25.64%).

Naturally, ISIS has not had any military control over the Syrian soil since February 2019.

On February 27, 2020, Turkey launched the Spring Shield Operation following the deliberate targeting of Turkish soldiers in Baylon village in Jabal Al-Zawiya, south of Idlib. As a result, the Syrian opposition factions managed to regain initiative and took control of the strategic city of Saraqib and 12 residential sites in its vicinity including towns, villages and farms. Also, the Syrian opposition factions took control of large areas in Jabal al-Zawiya and al-Ghab Plain.

Note that, during February 2020, the Syrian regime controlled Jabal Shahshabo, large areas of Jabal al-Zawiya and the central al-Ghab Plain before the Syrian opposition recaptured many of the lost sites.

Consequently, the Syrian opposition recaptured area reached 314 sq km, whereas the regime controlled area since the launched attack launched on November 14, 2019, has become about 2234 sq km.
